Space Ritual Revisited
Saturday 26 Jan
In 1973 saw the release of Space Ritual Alive and it has become one of the most famous live albums of the Seventies, from one of Britain’s top psychedelic bands, Hawkwind. From the classic anthems of Brainstorm, Master Of The Universe, Born To Go and Orgone Accumulator through the jarring and dystopian visions found in Sonic Attack and Welcome To The Future to the haunting beauty of The Black Corridor, 10 seconds Of Forever and The Awakening – the Space Ritual tour brought together the music of Hawkwind, the astounding and psychedelic lightshow from Liquid Len (aka Jonathan Smeeton) and the Lensmen with the artistic vision of Barney Bubbles and Robert Calvert.
In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of this album, former members of Hawkwind, Nik Turner (sax & vocals), Alan Davey (bass & vocals), Mick Slattery (guitar), Thomas Crimble (keyboards), Terry Ollis (drums) and guests Chris Purdon (audio generator), Julian Swalanski (vocals) and Lynda (dancer) have come together to perform the album in all its’ glory and entirety.
For those that were there at the original concerts, this will be an opportunity to remember the sights and sounds of the seventies and for those that missed the original – this will be a great chance to see a classic album be performed in front of your eyes. Seventies dress is optional, but highly encouraged.
